Varadkar formally resigns as Irish PM
(21 Feb 2020) Ireland's prime minister Leo Varadkar formally resigned on Thursday, a fortnight after an election that produced no clear winner. He'll stay on as the country's caretaker prime minister until a successor is chosen. The election left three parties on roughly level pegging, with no easy route to forming a stable government.
