Who is Killing Native American Women? Why Won't Law Enforcement Even Keep Count?

Native American women are disappearing and being murdered across America and Canada and astonishingly, there are no Federal databases of these missing women. A number of Native American lawmakers at the state level have introduced bills to compel local police to keep databases and actually investigate what often turn out to be murders in which the murderer has impunity and is never caught. Reporting from Yakima, Washington State, on HB 2951 and similar bills in MN, the Dakotas, Arizona, Oregon and New Mexico that at last start to address a horrific set of murders and in some cases mass murders that extend over decades. However we found some real flaws in this bill; it does not compel the creation of a database of missing Washington State Native American women -- just recommends yet another study, of which their have been, say advocates for Native American women, already many. And it is set to expire in July of 2019! Why is it so hard to account for an emergency level of missing and murdered women -- cases in the triple and quadruple digits -- with basic law enforcement recording and investigation?
